Double Action is a new action shooter game based on the Source engine and distributed freely on Steam. It is pretty fun to play and incorporates some movement tricks that you can do while playing, like sliding or diving with simple key/mouse combinations.

Double Action: Boogaloo was launched on Steam on October 23, 2014 and is available freely. According to its Steam description,

Double Action is a free stylish multiplayer game about diving, flipping, and sliding your way into action movie mayhem.

The game offers online multi-player modes, and there already are plenty of servers to choose from with lots of players. Double Action is really addictive, and the elements it uses for movement make it stand out compared to other shooters. These include diving, which will allow your character to jump rapidly into a certain direction, sliding, which will slide your character like it was on a slippery surface (and maybe similar to sliding from Urban Terror?), or backflips when facing a wall. The game objectives can vary from capturing checkpoints, up to capturing a briefcase full or money or killing a wanted criminal.

Except for the online multi-player, you can also start a local game and play against bots.

Another feature of Double Action is the slow-motion effect, which helps you to move and to aim better. And you can also view your character in either first person or third person mode by tapping X.

It currently seems that the developers are still modifying elements of the gameplay.

The familiar interface specific to Valve games:

There are currently seven available maps, all taking place in urban environments.

Upon joining a new game, you will be able to choose one of three characters, choose your weapons from a selection of pistols, sub-machine guns and rifles, and then pick a special trait (or “style” as it is called in DA) out of a total of five styles, which will make your character more skilled in that direction. For example, you can choose to be a Marksman, which will provide you with increased accuracy, less recoil and faster reloading times, or you could pick the Athlete style, will which grant you faster movement, dives and slides. This helps you build up your character depending on what you know to do better, or the style that you want to play at a certain point. You can also spawn with grenades if you choose the Nitrophiliac style.
